Visionaire | Living Room and Bedroom Furniture

Project Story

The Visionaire Apartments, located in Praça da Figueira, are a contemporary take on a merchants’ house of the XVI century, full with hardwoods, tapestries, printed textiles, tiles and pottery, mixing the Portuguese style with African, Asian and oriental influences.

The challenge was to create a bookcase in the living room that would incorporate all these objects and books from around the world.

Rita designed the shelf in pine, a more common Portuguese wood, contradicting the use of noble wood and in order to neutralize the support for all these pieces and books with history. In this shelf of straight lines, the designer created several mismatches between the sides as well as the non-constant use of the coast, to break the monotony and highlight some pieces.
